Hollington Drive is the chilling new drama which has everybody talking - and fans want to know where it was filmed.

Hollington Drive is a fictional suburb which is home to sisters Theresa (Line of Duty's Anna Maxwell Martin) and Helen (Rachael Stirling). It's a seemingly sleepy, tight-knit suburb of which the sisters are the social pillars of the local community.

But the status quo is rocked when a young boy goes missing and is later found dead.

As the ITV drama progresses, cracks begin to show in the protagonist's lives and Theresa begins to fear that her 10-year-old son has something to do with the boy's disappearance.

Where was Hollington Drive filmed?

In the series so far, the story has taken place against the backdrop of an idyllic suburb, with a local park and woodland nearby - which later becomes the scene of the crime.

The series, which was produced by West Road Pictures, and written by Sophie Petzal (Blood, Wolfblood) was predominantly filmed in Wales at a housing estate in Cardiff called The Mill. Some of the scenes were also shot at the nearby Sanatorium Park.

"I always had a very clear picture in my head of what this street would look like. I wanted something that felt bright, without being too cartoony or silly," writer Sophie Petzal told inews.

"I wanted it to juxtapose with the dark underbelly of the story, with detached houses that looked really nice and idyllic but not recognisably from a specific part of Britain like Manchester or Bristol.

According to the executive producer, Jonathan Fisher, the search for the perfect location was exhaustive and hundreds of locations were reviewed.

"It's such a fundamental part of that series and almost a character in itself. It was integral that we got it right and I think we did. We're really happy with it," he told Radio Times.

"I think we started scouting for that location about six months prior to filming - and we looked at loads. We had a location scout on the road," he added.

"It was right in the height of the pandemic when it was just one man in his car going around taking photographs of possible cul-de-sacs. And we reviewed, I would say, over 100 possible cul-de-sacs, honestly, and it was one of those where we just knew when we saw it, we'd know that was the one and this was certainly the case here."

Hollington Drive is afour-part drama series with episodes airing on Wednesdays at 9pm on ITV between 29th September and 20th October 2021.Featured Image Credit: ITV
