Who Will Be The Next Wolverine?

Wolverine fans have been losing it over Hugh Jackman's cryptic social media posts, which they've taken as a hint that he'll be reprising his role as Wolverine in an upcoming Marvel movie.

The Aussie actor, singer and producer holds the Guinness World Record for "longest career as a live-action Marvel superhero" for his part in the X-Men series.

But he could soon be passing on the torch.

Is Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine?

He also shared a photo of his character's signature claws from an artist-made poster design.

But what if Jackman isn't picking up his claws again, and he's in fact just overseeing the transition of the character to his replacement actor?

Who will replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine?

We've previously heard that Hugh Jackman wants Tom Hardy to replace him as Wolverine, but the latest rumours say it could be a Stranger Things star.

It's not been confirmed, but Stranger Things and Power Rangers actor Dacre Montgomery is the favourite among Marvel producers, according to Heroic Hollywood.

He's said to be appearing as the mutant monster in an upcoming fan edit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The new film will see a crossover of the Avengers and the X-men character.

Rumours of Montgomery replacing Jackman have been fuelled by an unofficial fan art poster on Instagram.

The image depicts the X-year-old smoking a cigarette and sporting the unmistakable Wolverine claws, with a very Hugh Jackman-like hairstyle.

"@dacremontgomery as Wolverine!!" Said apexform.

"Let me start by saying Hugh Jackman is irreplaceable. But it's inevitable that we are getting a new wolverine and I think Dacre would be a nice choice," they continued.

"He has the correct build, short and stocky, which differs from Hugh's portrayal. He can play that rough neck with grit as well. And he isn't that A list star yet that can sometimes hinder an actors portrayal of a character because all you do is see the star. So I think he'd be a smart choice. What do you think?"

Nothing has been confirmed by Marvel bosses yet, but we'll keep you posted.
