UK fans of Rick and Morty are chomping at the bit to watch the season five finale, after seeing the reactions from US viewers, who got to see it on 5th September.

The popular cartoon sitcom from Adult Swim, Cartoon Network's late night programming block, first aired on 2nd December 2013.

The animated series follows the inter-dimensional adventures of drunken super scientist, Rick, and his not-so-bright grandson, Morty.

As well as (hopefully) a sixth season, there's also a Rick and Morty movie to look forward to, which should help with the season finale blues tonight.

Rick and Morty movie release date

We're not sure on a release date yet, but what we do know is Rick and Morty: The Movie will be coming to the big screen at some point in the next year or so, with the show's co-creator Justin Roiland confirming it's a matter of 'when' and not 'if' a movie will comeThe show's creators are also keen to see it come out in 3D and 4D.

"It'd have to be something so big - like a 3D interactive movie that also has a theme park. I don't know if you could just do a straight movie," said Spencer Grammer, the voice of Summer.

"There are those 4D movie theatres in New York City."
