Rick and Morty fans have got just a month to go before the release of the fifth season. In the meantime, Adult Swim has given us a trailer to keep us going.

The sitcom first appeared on Adult Swim, Cartoon Network's late night programming block, on 2nd December 2013. The animated series follows the exploits of a super scientist, Rick, and his not-so-bright grandson, Morty.

Describing the chaotic cartoon series, Netflix said: "Brilliant but boozy scientist Rick hijacks his fretful teenage grandson, Morty, for wild escapades in other worlds and alternate dimensions."

When will Rick and Morty season 5 be released?

The show confirmed the release date of the new series on 1st May on Twitter, tweeting: "No time to unpack this. Rick and Morty returns for season 5 on Sunday, June 20 at 11pm ET/PT on @adultswim"

How can I watch Rick and Morty season 5 in the UK?

There's no telling yet whether the same release date applies to UK viewers. The show will air on Adult Swim in the US, but a TV network hasn't been announced for the UK yet.

The third series of Rick and Morty was released episode by episode on Netflix. E4 then bought the rights to show season 4. We're not sure yet whether season 5 will be on E4 or Netflix, but we'll let you know as soon as it's confirmed.

If you fancy a recap ahead of the latest season being released, seasons 1-4 of Rick and Morty are available on Netflix.

Are Rick and Morty voiced by the same person?

We bet you didn't know that Rick and Morty are, in fact, both voiced by Justin Roiland who is one of the co-creators of the show.

Many of the show's writers and directors also voice the characters. Dan Harman, who's written 41 episodes and has confirmed season 6 is being worked on, has voiced several characters including: Birdperson, Phoenixperson, Acid Man and Alejandro - to name a few.

Roiland, Harman and the other stars of the previous four seasons are expected to return in season 5 of Rick and Morty.

Writer Scott Marder teased some pretty exciting storylines for the upcoming season at the PaleyFest in October 2020, saying: "There's epic canon in season five coming."

"All the stuff we're doing is so awesome.

"I'm a huge fan before I even got to be on the show, so to get to write for it, I get to feed my excitement of loving this show before I get to write for it.

"So you'll feel that in the show. Season five, all the stuff we're doing is so awesome."

Will there be a season 6 of Rick and Morty?

Good news. Season 6 and season 7 of Rick and Morty have been confirmed as in the making by the show's writers.

Dan Harman confirmed that season 6 was being written in May 2020, so we shouldn't be waiting too much longer for that. As for season 7, that could take us into 2023. We'll keep you posted.
