Tom Cruise has been popping up in random places in the UK recently and it's got fans puzzled. The latest was a curry restaurant in Birmingham, where he reportedly ate two chicken tikka massalas (good lad!). So what is the A-lister doing in the UK's second city?

Tom Cruise has been spotted in the city centre's Grand Central train station several times recently, much to the delight of his fans in Brum.

The 59-year-old spent two hours at the Michelin curry house, Asha's, in Birmingham city centre on Saturday night (21st August), where he enjoyed his chicken tikka masala so much, he ordered a second helping.

The restaurant's starstruck owner, Nouman Farouqi, told Birmingham Live:

"When he came he said he didn't want any fuss and just wanted to be part of the atmosphere.

"He wanted a meal just like any other guest and simply wanted to enjoy an authentic Indian meal.

"A few diners recognised him but not all. Nobody made a fuss, though when he left people went a little bit crazy.

"He agreed to have his picture taken outside in a socially-distanced way and had his mask on for the first picture.

"He then took his mask off and said: 'Take another one'."

Fallout film director Christopher McQuarrie was said to be among Cruise's party.

Prior to his curry house visit, Tom Cruise was spotted among the crowds at the Euro 2020 finals and Wimbledon over the summer.

Why is Tom Cruise in Birmingham?

Tom Cruise is reported to be in the UK at the moment filming the latest Mission: Impossible movie, which comes out next year.

The other week, Cruise was spotted filming a stunt in Derbyshire, which involved a train crashing over the edge of the former Darlton Quarry.

Before that, he waved to fans from the top of a moving train in Norway while filming what is said to be his most dangerous stunt yet.

Brummies are delighted that Cruise's next stunt will be performed at Birmingham's Grand Central station.

Local publications report that the station is currently being rigged up with lights and Cruise is expected to film his stunt at some time over the August bank holiday weekend.

"He is my all-time favourite actor," Farouqi continued to tell Birmingham Live.

"I love all of the Mission: Impossible series and can't wait for the new Top Gun film too because he does his own stunts."

We'd have to agree with him there.

Mission: Impossible 7 release date

Mission: Impossible 7 is due to be released in May 2022 and the reloaded Top Gun movie comes to cinemas in the UK on 17th November 2021, 35 years after the original film was released.
