Timothee Chalamet has given fans a first look at the new Wonka film in which he stars as Willy Wonka. So when can we expect to be grabbing some golden tickets to go and watch it?
Chalamet posted a photo of him donning Willy Wonka's traditional top hat and coat on his Instagram account on 10th October and teased fans saying: "The suspense is terrible,
I hope it will last ...WONKA." And when you see how long we've got to wait for the film, we can see why he said that.
How many Willy Wonka films have there been?
Over the years, various film adaptations of Roald Dahl's famous 1964 children's book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, have been made and all of them have proven a hit.

The first film adaptation (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) came in 1971, with Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka and Peter Ostrum as Charlie Bucket. Earlier this year, we took a look at what the cast are up to now, 50 years on. The film very much followed the same storyline as the original book, as did Tim Burton's 2005 adaptation, which starred Johnny Depp as the eccentric candymaker.
There was also the cartoon adaptation, Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in 2017. Tom played Willy Wonka and Jerry was Charlie Bucket.
However, Wonka will take a different approach and serve as a prequel, which will delve into Willy Wonka's backstory. Timothee Chalamet will star as the young Willy Wonka as the film centres around the adventure which led him to meeting the Oompa-Loompas.
Wonka release date
Wonka is due out in 2023, so there's some time to wait. An exact date hasn't been announced by Warner Bros yet, but we'll let you know as soon as we hear anything.

In the meantime, Warner Bros is currently making the third Fantastic Beasts movie, which is due out in the near future. And if it's a Timothee Chalamet fix you need, his new film Dune is due out in cinemas on 21st October.

Alongside Chalamet, various well-known faces are set to make an appearance in Wonka, including Rowan Atkinson (aka Mr Bean), Matt Lucas and Olivia Colman.

The roles haven't been clarified yet, but we can imagine Matt Lucas would make a hilarious Oompa-Lumpa.
