The New Year brings a new you, right? A new, adventurous, up-for-anything you, who also looks after themselves, eats well, stays active and cares for the environment...so Bear Grylls, then.

OK, so emulating the great man might involve going a little further out of your comfort zone than you can face this early in January, and almost certainly involves abandoning any sort of regular job you might be holding down - unless your job is being a professional wildman - but you can get yourself into the spirit from the safety of your sofa thanks to the National Geographic channel.

They've got Running Wild with Bear Grylls showing this new year, allowing National Geographic viewers to live vicariously through the Bear. The new series takes in amazing locations as varied as the Pearl Islands in Central America, the wilds of Utah and the Grand Canyon, and travelling alongside Bear Grylls are big names such as Cara Delevingne, Channing Tatum and former WWE superstar Dave Bautista.

If you think your new year resolutions are tough to tackle, then you can enjoy the fact that you're not being served your tea by an ex-SAS adventurer. "This, as a survivalist, is good," Bear announces of a bit of beetle larvae. "Good protein, [a] good snack." Brie Larson, a long way from Hollywood on an island in the Gulf of Panama, has just met lunch. And that's just episode one - she's far from the only celeb to be served up a snack by Bear.

Armie Hammer finds himself sucking on a goat's teat - don't ask, you'll have to watch it for yourself - and Channing Tatum is made to drink... well, we'll let you tune in and see for yourself.

Model turned actor Cara Delevingne fares a little better: she (sensibly) opts for a trip to the Italian island of Sardinia, and while that might seem a little more sedate than an Icelandic glacier, their episode sees the pair working up an uncomfortable sweat as Bear has Cara pulling herself over a canyon rope bridge.

There is all of this, and so much more. you can catch all the new episodes on National Geographic by tuning in on Sundays at 7pm - it's certainly one not to be missed.
