Bam Margera Claims Jackass Caused His Addiction And Drug Use Issues

The 42-year-old is believed to have said that he had no issues with addiction or drug use until becoming involved with the franchise

Bam Margera has revealed his belief that becoming involved with Jackass was the beginning of his issues with addiction and drug use.

The 42-year-old says that his dependence on Adderall and pain killers were a result of his performances and stunts.

Bam is suing the producers of the Jackass films over his firing from the new film, Jackass Forever, which is scheduled for release in 2022.

Now he claims he's owed millions, setting the figure at a cool $9.65m (£7.27m) which he says is for his concepts because it's 'unfair to allow them to use my ideas without compensating me for them'.

According to legal documentation, obtained by The Blast, the Jackass star said: "I did not have any issues with addiction and drug use until I began my involvement… with the Jackass franchise.

"It was not until then that I became dependent on Adderall and pain medications to maintain the focus needed to satisfy the production schedule of Defendants for my various television and motion picture projects and to manage the pain associated with the injuries I suffered performing the stunts in those productions."

He went on to add: "I am informed and aware that my fellow cast mates have publicly and privately detailed their own challenges with addiction.

"I do not share those details here, as that is personal to them, notwithstanding my personal observations and knowledge."

Then he outlines some specifics as well as speaking about his current mental health, saying: "As to me, I suffer from bipolar disorder and attention deficit disorder.

"I have taken prescription Adderall for more than the past 10 years. I also have a history of anxiety, disordered eating, and began abusing alcohol in my 20s.

"In 2009, at 30 years old, I entered a rehabilitation facility for the first time."

He then speaks about a time when he was robbed at gunpoint in Colombia saying that after the incident, he entered a programme to work on his mental health and sobriety.

The star has said that the producers agreed to put money into a trust fund for his son but he doesn't think this is good enough.

And his problems with Jackass aren't the only personal issues he's dealing with.

It was reported in September that he had engaged in a legal battle with his wife regarding custody of their son.

As of October, he was also in the midst of another rehab stint after being escorted back by police, who engaged him during an incident in Florida according to Page Six.
