Adele hosted her very first Saturday Night Live show last night, taking the occasion to address her recent weight loss by joking that she'd only brought 'half' of herself along for the gig.
In her opening monologue, Adele welcomed the audience and viewers to the show, saying she felt 'absolutely thrilled' to finally play host after first appearing as a musical guest 12 years ago - a moment that she said launched her career in America.

She then referenced the fact she doesn't quite look the same way she did back in 2008 (I mean, who does?), saying: "I know I look really, really different since you last saw me, but actually because of all the Covid restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and bring only half of me, and this was the half that I chose!"
She then did a curtsey as the audience cheered.
Adele previously admitted she felt nervous about the hosting job, but said she 'couldn't possibly' turn it down.
When her appearance was announced last week, she wrote on Instagram: "Bloooooody hellllll I'm so excited about this!! And also absolutely terrified! My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!!
"I've always wanted to do it as a stand alone moment, so that I could roll up my sleeves and fully throw myself into it, but the time has never been right. But if there was ever a time for any of us to jump head first into the deep end with our eyes closed and hope for the best it's 2020 right?
