AJ Pritchard's girlfriend Abbie Quinnen has revealed how a hitman was offered £20,000 to kill her.

The 23-year-old dancer was appearing in a pantomime with her I'm A Celebrity star boyfriend when the death threat was issued.

According to The Sun, she was warned that a hitman had been given a list of the dates and places she would be performing and went to the police.

Unfortunately the person, or people, responsible were never tracked down and instead she was advised to up her personal security.

Abbie, who explained that she's received several death threats since she started dating AJ last year, said: "It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me."

She went on: "I didn't know what to do. I told AJ. He was like, 'I can't believe this is happening'. My heart literally dropped and I remember my legs were shaking.

"You honestly see this stuff on movies and you never would expect it to happen to you. We went to the police. My family were shocked too. I did play it down to them slightly as I didn't want them to come running to where I was."

It was Abbie's friend who initially alerted her to the potential danger back in January. It was explained how someone tried to hire a hitman on the dark web and was offering between £10,000 and £20,000.

Speaking about her friend, Abbie added: "She was actually in quite a bad state with it."

The revelation comes as AJ Pritchard is working in Wales as one of the stars of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! which is being filmed in Gwrych Castle instead of the Australian jungle - all thanks to the coronavirus.

The pair had to isolate together ahead of his entry to the castle after he tested positive for Covid-19.

Other contestants include TV presenter Vernon Kay and Team GB legend Mo Farah.

As on previous iterations of the show, viewers will see the celebrities undertake gruelling trials and fun-filled challenges to win food and treats in the lead up to one of them being crowned, for the first time ever, King or Queen of the Castle.
