After being away from our screens for nearly a year, Ant McPartlin will make his much anticipated return to work today with Britain's Got Talent.

Richard Arnold revealed the big news on Good Morning Britain, saying: "I can officially announce that after a year off Ant will start filming on the new series of BGT.

"Can you believe it's come around again? Oh how the time flies.

"They're reuniting on Friday for the auditions of course, getting underway in London on Friday before the rest of the BGT continue their search for talent next month."

So it'll still be a little longer before we actually see him on our screens, but this is good news for fans of the 43-year-old, who stepped out of the spotlight last year after he crashed his car in a drink driving incident and subsequently went to rehab.

Fans will be happy to see him back on our tellies.

The presenter's troubled life has been well-documented in recent months, including his battle with drugs and alcohol, which caused him to miss live shows of Britain's Got Talent last year, as well as an entire series of I'm A Celebrity.

It was also announced that the entertainer had divorced from wife Lisa Armstrong, who he had been married to for the past 12 years.

The couple, who got hitched in 2006, announced their separation in January last year after a 23-year relationship.

But, depending on how Ant goes on BGT, there are rumours that he will resume hosting I'm A Celebrity with his mate Declan Donnelly after his position was filled by Holly Willoughby during his absence, last year.

Although Holly has gone down well with audiences, this will surely be music to everyone's ears, who have sorely missed his on-screen chemistry with his best mate.

According to the report, a source close to the star said: "Ant has completed his recovery and ITV has decided he is ready to be back at work for Britain's Got Talent filming, which starts next month.

"It's been an incredibly difficult two-year period but he has been entirely focused on turning his life around in order to return to work.

"ITV is very excited about Ant and Dec being reunited - but Ant's recovery has been everyone's first priority."

Fingers crossed it's a seamless transition for Ant as he resumes the work we know and love him for. It'll be interesting to see whether he and Dec pick up a gong at the National Television Awards after they were nominated for Best Presenter.

They're up against Graham Norton, Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby and Bradley Walsh.
