We all love a revenge prank. It's the time to get your own back and it's usually well deserved, thought out and sneaky.

Unless, you prank the original prankster with the same prank as they pranked you with back in the 1980s... which happened recently to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.

Let's rewind a few decades first.

So when the pair were filming Twins, Schwarzenegger was pranked by DeVito, who packed his cigar with cannabis.

When he went back to work, he was away with the fairies and couldn't remember any of his lines.

Reminiscing about the moment in his monthly newsletter, Arnie wrote: "He'd always make me the most delicious pasta at lunch, and we'd eat and schmooze and have a cigar before we went back to work.

"One day, he packed my cigar with marijuana without telling me."

He went on to add: "He's a brutal prankster, and he's as funny in real life as he is on the screen.

"I'm a fanatic about memorizing my lines so I never touch the script once I arrive on a set, but when we got back after lunch, Danny said his line and I just stood there. 'Duh.'

"My brain had completely forgotten the scene I had no trouble with before lunch.

"Danny was laughing up a storm, and [director] Ivan [Reitman] flipped the cameras to film Danny's close-up so I could read my lines off the page and we wouldn't waste any time.

"As we went on, it all slowly came back to me and I could join in the laughter and finish my scenes."

Bringing things back to the present day and Schwarzenegger's most recent newsletter reveals how he tried to get his long-awaited revenge when he met up with his old co-star.

Arnie, 74, and DeVito, 76, were doing some promotional work for their new film Triplets when the former California governor explained: "You may remember the story about Danny putting marijuana in my cigar.

"Well, this time we turned the tables!

"We waited until the end of the shoot and gave Danny the gift.

"But unfortunately, he still has the nose of a bloodhound, and sniffed out the special ingredient right away."
