For some, the pressure of walking in their parents footsteps can cause a lot of stress.

But it must be a particularly daunting task if you're trying to emulate your dad's physique - and your dad is Arnold Schwarzenegger.

But fair play to Joseph Baena, he hasn't shied away from the colossal challenge. A lesser man might have slobbed out on the couch feeling inadequate, but the 21-year-old has been hitting the gym and has even started imitating some of his dad's classic poses.

Yesterday (Thursday), he shared a picture on his Instagram in which he mimics his dad's classic strongman pose from a German protein product advert, shot in 1967.

Baena captioned the photo: "Had to take advantage of the lighting  #classic #sidechest #trainheavy"

Undoubtedly, the man is looking well sculpted and beefy. It's just a shame for him that his dad set the bar so ludicrously high in the well-sculpted and beefy stakes. As you can see in the original shot, Arnie was ridiculously massive - and he was only 20 at the time.

Arnie was an absolute tank.

This is not the first time Baena has replicated his dad's poses.

Just a few weeks ago, he shared a picture of himself pulling off the iconic Mr Universe pose.

Indeed, he seems to have his old man's seal of approval.

Speaking to Extra's Mario Lopez at his Arnold Pro Strongman USA event, the 71-year-old said his son was training 'very hard'.

He said: "Yeah, yeah, he is very serious about this whole thing. He wants to compete in one of the classic physique competitions.

"I don't think he wants to go to the extreme, but he wants to do the classic physique competitions and he's looking forward to that and he's training very hard."

The former Governor of California added that he recently pushed his boy reach to achieve a new personal best in the gym.

He said: "We were in the gym and did the shoulder training and the arm training, [sic] lets go over there and do a little deadlift, because I'm a big believer in training also for strength.

"I put in 455, which he has never lifted before, and he did two reps.

"I saw him doing the first one, it was not too much of a struggle, so I said, 'Come on do a second one! Go for the second one! Come on Joseph'."

Arnie also revealed that he is happy with his daughter marrying Chris Pratt.

He said: "He's a great guy, they both look really great together, they're very happy together, so I wish them the best of luck."

... No doubt he is relieved.
