Wonderful gesture from O2.

Ed Sheeran has had probably the best 2017; he's pretty much made everyone's year already by dropping his latest album, Divided. He has also managed to smash all sorts of records, such as somehow having nine of the top 10 songs in the singles chart in March.

For many it's enough to just to listen to the album which smashed Spotify's Top 50 when it was released. Some have been lucky enough to go and watch him in person (with spectacular queuing scenes), while others have got to meet him personally.

Ed's own charitable side has seen him meet children, and adults, who perhaps aren't having such a good 2017 but, for a few moments at least, they can put that to one side.

Eighteen-year-old Dion Yates is certainly one of those people. She is suffering from terminal sarcoma, but her mum, Kerry, 39, bought her some £600 VIP tickets to help tick another item off the bucket list.

Sadly, these tickets were fake. After travelling down from Scotland, to the O2 Arena in London, they were told at the door that these were deliberate forgeries. It's hard to imagine someone doing something so cruel.

Kerry and Dion, alongside sister Jacy, 20, and her best mate, Holly, were told by the gate operator: "They are not real, I'm so sorry. We've had a few of these."

Dion was left heartbroken after finding out the tickets, which Kerry bought on Gumtree, were fake. The scumbag seller, even text Kerry once the money was transferred, saying: "That's the tickets picked up. I'm so pleased these have gone to you and not to a ticket tout and I hope your daughter has a fantastic time x."

However, after reading about her horrible experience, O2 stepped in and has offered Kerry and Dion a VIP experience.

A spokesman for the O2 told the Mirror: "Our friends at O2 spotted Kerry's post about what happened to Dion and they wanted to help.

"They've contacted her directly to invite her to another show of her choice as their guest for a VIP experience. Ed plays the O2 on 22nd June as part of our tenth birthday celebrations.

"Both the venue and our partners O2 were saddened to hear that unscrupulous touts were selling fake tickets to the show. Sadly for very popular shows, this does happen."

Well, that helps to restore your faith in humanity, doesn't it?
