Barack Obama Gives Drake The Seal Of Approval To Play Him In Biopic

Barack Obama Gives Drake The Seal Of Approval To Play Him In Biopic

Barack Obama has given Drake his backing to play him in a biopic, eight years after the rapper said it was his 'goal'.

The rapper has had his eyes on playing the former POTUS for a long time - speaking at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012, he said: "I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama's life soon because I could play him. That's the goal.

"I watch all the addresses. Any time I seen him on TV, I don't change the channel. I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice.

"If you ask anyone who knows me, I'm pretty good at impressions.

"Slowly but surely, I'm not in the study mode because nobody's called me about anything, but I just pay attention so when the day comes I'm not scrambling to learn how to speak like him."

Now, Obama has said he'd be happy for the 34-year-old to play him in the future.

Speaking on Complex's 360 With Speedy Morman, Obama was asked if he'd give the 'thumbs up' to Drake playing him.

Obama replied: "I will say this, Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants.

"I suspect Malia and Sasha would be just fine with it."

I can imagine Drake is feeling pretty excited right about now.

And in case you're wondering what Drake might look like in a potential role as Obama - he's already treated us to a Photoshopped mash up.

In a post to mark the end of Obama's presidency, Drake shared this slightly bizarre image while paying tribute to the president's run.

Alongside the shot he wrote: "As a Canadian that calls America home for part of the year I will always carry your words and the memory of your time in office with me as inspiration.

"Big up yaself O."

Drake already has numerous acting credits to his name, having previously appeared in Degrassi: The Next Generation, Ice Age: Continental Drift and Breakaway.
