And it wasn't for saying he would punch Donald Trump.

Not too long ago acting legend and all round top lad Robert De Niro said he wanted to punch Donald Trump square in the face. Now, Barack Obama has decided to give him a medal. That's not the reason he's getting it, though. Well, at least that's not what Barack is claiming, even though he knows deep down that it really is.

During his final weeks in office President Obama announced the list of people who will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honour a president can award. De Niro was amongst that list, along with 20 other icons from the world of entertainment, sport and more.

"The Presidential Medal of Freedom is not just our nation's highest civilian honour - it's a tribute to the idea that all of us, no matter where we come from, have the opportunity to change this country for the better," Mr Obama said in a statement.

Others on the list include Tom Hanks, Bruce Springsteen, Ellen DeGeneres and Michael Jordan. The ceremony will take place on 22nd November at The White House.

But let's face it, De Niro should have got a medal for Taxi Driver alone.
