Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are well-known for their hilarious piss-taking, as they're constantly seen making light-hearted jabs at each other on social media - and in doing so, rising above the self-important, pouting big-wigs to establish themselves as one of Hollywood's most likeable couples.

However, beneath all the LOLs there's clearly also a sentimental side to the couple - as proven by a very small, but very effective, detail on Blake Lively's Met Gala outfit.

There's no denying that she looked incredible in her striking crimson gown, which fitted the theme of 'Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination' pretty perfectly.

But it was her Judith Leiber clutch bag that proved to be the best bit, which featured a nice little nod to husband Ryan and their two daughters, James and Ines.

Lively and Reynolds often rope their kids into their trolling tug-of-war - for his most recent birthday, Reynolds tweeted: "My kids tried to surprise me for my birthday this morning. I totally heard them coming and snuck out to start a new life somewhere else."

Another time, Lively used Father's Day as the apt moment to get one back on Reynolds, posting a photo of him and their kid with the caption: "Happy Fathers Day!!! ... @vancityreynolds Since the day our baby was born, I've felt so strongly in my heart that you were most likely the father."

Of course, Lively's a bit of a veteran of the Met Gala, having been nine times. But in an interview with Vogue back in March, she explained that she was particularly excited about this year, looking forward to wearing her 'favourite dress ever'.

"I just sent Lorraine Schwartz and Christian Louboutin my dress, and said, 'Ok let's do something special.'

"They're making something custom for it. So it's kind of nice, because I have a bunch of artists around me who I have direct relationships with. It's sort of a group effort with that.

"I rely on people who do that for a living rather than outsourcing it to someone else."

Meanwhile, Rihanna was also making headlines for her Met Gala outfit - though for reasons slightly more controversial than having the initials of your fam on a clutch bag.

Turning up to the prestigious event wearing a mitre hat, the Internet was soon fuming at her Pope-tastic choice of attire.

Unsurprisingly, the official office of the Pontiff has not been quick to comment on Rihanna's dress.

Stick to some subtle initials on your clutch bag next time, eh Ri-Ri?
