Say what you want about the fact that there is a ninth (yes, ninth) Fast and Furious movie hitting our screens soon - the project is well and truly happening.

Not much is known about the film, but we do know that it will star Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron...and now rapper Cardi B.

The 'I Like It' artist has been announced as a recent cast member by Diesel, who has uploaded a video of him and Cardi on set.

He said to the camera: "Day 86 here on the set of Fast 9. I know I'm exhausted. We all gave every single thing we could for this movie."

Cardi B added: "I'm tired, but I can't wait. I ain't gonna front, this is gonna be the best one. I need to take a nappy-nap."

WWE star John Cena has also been revealed to be joining the cast, however that's at the cost of two of the franchise's biggest actors: The Rock and Jason Statham.

The duo have been busy filming the Fast and Furious spin-off movie Hobbs and Shaw and weren't included for the ninth instalment.

Speaking to MTV News, the former wrestler said: "The plan has always been for the Fast and Furious universe to grow and expand.

"As of now, we're not in Fast 9 because they're getting ready to start shooting. But who knows with Fast 10 and down the road, you never know."

While some may suspect the decision to stay out of the new film is actually down to the Rock's feud with fellow star Vin Diesel, Johnson claimed there was 'no ill will' between the two.

According to the Hawaiian actor, the decision to make a spin-off movie is down to his 'biting chemistry' with action star Statham, and he says the pair have been thinking about doing a film together for the past six years.

Speaking in December, he said: "We started talking about the potential of a spin-off really after Fast Five.

"And then when Fast Six came around, that's when we started having real talks about it, but then the challenge was just finding out what the creative could be and how we cracked that.
