Chris Eubank Jr has offered to match the winning bid for a signed microwave and give the money to charity - with the bidding war currently as high as £65,000.

Last week, a man went viral after a video showed him asking the boxer to sign his microwave in Newcastle.

Other people had been seen posing for photos with Eubank Jr, before the bloke came out of nowhere carrying the appliance, telling the two-time Super Middleweight World Champion: "It's the only thing I've got."

Twitter

Eubank Jr happily obliged, and the footage soon made its way online, with social media users finding the whole thing hilarious.

He even retweeted the clip, praising the fan for his 'resourcefulness'.

He wrote: "Only in Newcastle will you find such dedication and resourcefulness. The balls this kid must have to walk around the town center on a Thursday night ALONE with only a microwave to watch his back, deserves a medal for bravery."

And in the latest development, it would appear that the signed microwave has now landed on eBay, where it's set to fetch a surprisingly pretty penny.

eBay

The auction, which ends in two days on 23 October, has a current bid of £65,900 at the time of writing.

A description reads: "As seen on LadBible, Talk Sport, BBC Sport and most media outlets - this is the most famous microwave in the UK. #MicrowaveBoy."

eBay

Better still, the sale has even made its way to the man behind the signature, with Eubank Jr tweeting to say he'd been sent the link to the eBay listing - and that he'd be matching the winning bid and donating the money to charity.

He said: "Been sent a link to an eBay auction that's selling the microwave I signed in Newcastle.

"No idea how much it'll go for but to make this a more meaningful situation whatever the winning bid is I'll match it and give the money to a charity of the winner's choice."

If you've got a spare £66,000 to spend on a used - but signed - microwave, check it out on eBay here. And if anyone tells you off for being frivolous, remind them that you're technically doing a good thing for charity.
