We all know Kanye West thrives on controversy, having strengthened a decent career as a rapper with his strange antics in between dropping albums.

However, it seems like his latest stunt may have actually backfired a little bit, having been shut down by none other than Captain America.

At the weekend, Ye had decided to close his Saturday Night Live performance with a pro-Trump rant. Yep, whenever we're talking about Kanye and Trump, things never seem to go particularly smoothly, do they?

In footage captured by actor and comedian Chris Rock, the audience didn't seem to be on board with his diatribe - with some greeting it with total silence, and others booing him loudly.

Oh, and then because that reaction clearly wasn't enough for the star, he then tweeted a 'message sent with love' from his private jet, saying that 'this represents good and America becoming whole again'.

That was the moment when Captain America star Chris Evans stepped in, tweeting Kanye to say that he found the rapper's actions not just 'frustrating' but also 'retrogressive, unprecedented and absolutely terrifying'.

Blimey, tell him how you really feel, fella.

Many praised Evans for his well-worded response, with some agreeing that they didn't feel particularly comfortable taking political advice from someone who had just performed to the nation in a Perrier bottle fancy dress costume.

Some went as far to say that Chris Evans' had the power to end Kanye's career - although others were quick to point out that it would probably take more than that to do so.

One argued: "Im going to preface this by saying I am NOT a Kanye West fan. Chris Evans did NOT end his career. As long as the black community continues to support him, his career, unfortunately, will be just fine. If it didnt end with that "slavery is a choice" comment, it wont end with this."

Another added: "Even Kanye can't kill Kanye's career dude literally said slavery was choice and still at the top, I don't think a tweet from a celebrity is gonna end his career lol."

I mean, they've got a point on that one.
