Chrissy Teigen has celebrated 50 days of sobriety, sharing a post on Instagram to mark the occasion - saying she now knows alcohol 'no longer serves' her in 'any way'.

Teigen said she should have been approaching the milestone of a year without booze, but had endured a few 'hiccups' along the way.

However, she was proud to announce her 50-day run has been her longest streak ever, writing: "Today is my 50 day sobriety streak! It should be nearly a year but I had a few (wine) hiccups in the road. This is my longest streak yet!"

She said she does not know whether or not she wants to remain sober for the rest of her life, but believes she has had her 'fun' with alcohol.

Teigen continued: "I still dunno if I'll never drink again but I do know it no longer serves me in ANY way. I don't get more fun, I don't dance, I don't get relaxed. I get sick, fall asleep and wake up sick, having missed what was probably a fun night.

"I had my fun with it and appreciate anyone that can enjoy it responsibly!!!!

"This is also my third day this week working out which is unheard of for me, and my bears are notttt making it easy but loving @movewithnicole on YouTube!!"

The model and cookbook author - who has two children with husband John Legend - announced she'd had a four-week run of sobriety back in December last year, having previously opened up about her struggles with alcohol.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan in 2017, she said: "I was, point blank, just drinking too much.

"I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into me having one before the awards show. And then a bunch at the awards show.

"And then I felt bad for making kind of an ass of myself to people that I really respected.

"And that feeling, there's just nothing like that. You feel horrible. It's not a good look for me, for John, for anybody."

Teigen has a history of alcohol abuse in her family and said she 'can't have just one drink'.

She said: "Nobody really brought it up to me. They just assumed that it was OK because I always felt OK the next morning.

"I knew in my heart it wasn't right. It makes you very short with people. People think it's cutesy and fun to go on these boozy brunches, but there's more to it. I've never once been like, 'I'm sure glad I had that boozy brunch!'"

She added: "I used to think it was kind of nutty to have to go totally sober, but now I get it. I don't want to be that person... I have to fix myself."
