During tonight's 'Saturday Night Takeaway' finale, Dec didn't directly reference Ant, though he did open the show with a rendition of Everybody Needs Somebody, which many people think was a message to him. He also got The Rembrants to perform their famous song 'I'll Be There For You' - again something that is close to the Geordie duo's hearts.

After the show he showed a rare moment of vulnerability and addressed the audience in a heartfelt speech about his best pal.

In a video obtained by The Sun, the Geordie presenter addresses the audience and the Ant McPartlin situation.

"Thanks for the love and support, it's been a series tinged with... well... sadness" he told them.

After an audience member shouted "we miss Ant", Dec's response was simply "yes, yes we do."

He then went on to ask them "would you give a round of applause to Ant who's back home?" to which the crowd responded with loud cheers of support.

"Thank you so much, he'll appreciate that."

Dec has undoubtedly held his own while he's been presenting without Ant, however it's clear to see that he can't wait to have him back by his side.
