Demi Lovato has said it's OK if people accidentally misgender them as long as their 'truth is respected'.
The 28-year-old, who came out as non-binary in May, has even admitted that they misgender themselves sometimes and said it's a 'huge transition' to change your pronouns.
The 'Heart Attack' singer shared a series of Instagram grid posts to recognise Nonbinary Awareness Week.

One of them began: "If you midgender me - that's okay."
The post went on to say: "I accidentally misgender myself sometimes! It's a huge transition to change the pronouns I've used for myself my entire life. And it's difficult to remember sometimes!
"As long as you keep trying to respect my truth, and as long as I remember my truth, the shift will come naturally.
"I'm just grateful for your effort in trying to remember what means so much to my healing process."
They went on to caption the post: "I felt the need to post this because I often find that the change in pronouns can be confusing for some, and difficult to remember for others. It's all about your intention.

"It's important to me that you try, but if you make a mistake, it's okay. Remember that I love you, and to keep going."
People have come forward to remind Demi how loved they are, with one saying: "Oh honey I've said this probably a hundred times but I mean it, I'm so so proud of you!!!! I'll always be by your side, just keep being you!"
Another shared: "This is so beautiful, my brother-in-law came out as trans a year ago, and he gets misgendered a lot, but has the understanding that sometimes it's a transition for everybody!

"Long as you try, apologise when you get it wrong, that's all that matters! I love you you beautiful angel."
A third added: "For some of us it can get confusing and totally difficult to remember but we want to be educated on the matter, at least I do!
"I would never wanna disrespect anyone so thanks for doing that via your posts/content so that we can further understand."
