Donald Trump has said that he believes 'nut job' Alec Baldwin 'had something to do with' the shooting that happened on the set of the movie he was filming.
The Hollywood actor accidentally shot and killed the director of photography, Halyna Hutchins, on the set of Rust with a prop gun, also injuring director Joel Souza.
Now speaking to Chris Stigall on The Chris Stigall Podcast, Trump said: "He's a troubled guy. There's something wrong with him. I've watched him for years. He gets into fistfights with reporters.
"He's a cuckoo-bird, he's a nutjob. And usually, when there's somebody like that, you know, in my opinion, he had something to do with it."
The incident has been described by many as a 'tragic accident' and in the police reports, 63-year-old Baldwin claimed he was told the gun wasn't loaded.
But Trump remained of the opinion that the actor had behaved irresponsibly, adding: "But if nothing else, how do you take a gun and just, whether it's loaded or not loaded, how do you take a gun, point it at somebody that's not even in the movie and just point it at this person and pull the trigger and now she's dead?"
The 75-year-old former POTUS went on to say: "As bad as it may have been kept, meaning you know the people that take care of the equipment and the guns and everything else... But even if it was loaded, and that's a weird thing- maybe he loaded it."
Following the comments made by Trump, Baldwin shared a news article on his Instagram account which featured the headline: "Trump Floats Reckless Claim 'Troubled' Alec Baldwin Intentionally Shot 'Rust' Cinematographer".
He didn't caption the post but many people were quick to reply telling him not to rise to the former president.
One person wrote: "Don't Alec...don't give him anymore publicity. We know who and what he is. More importantly we know you and we know your heart."
Another added: "His lowest is never his lowest. Despicable!"
A third - who seems to be in agreement with Trump's comments - said: "Talk about hypocrisy, if a conservative actor had done the same thing, every nut in Hollywood would be bashing him about gun control etc. you are very fortunate than most people are being very quiet about the story and not putting you on blast at all."
