Dr Dre has just had a seriously proud father moment, announcing on Instagram that his daughter has got herself into the University of Southern California.

The hip-hop veteran shared a photo of himself stood beside his daughter, Truly Young, who was holding up her Certificate of Admissions letter from USC.

"My daughter got accepted into USC all on her own. No jail time!!!" the beaming dad wrote.

Many Instagrammers said the 'all on her own' part of his post was 'savage', seemingly as a dig to the likes of Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin amid the Hollywood college admissions scandal - in which wealthy celebs allegedly bribed their children's way into elite American colleges like USC, Georgetown and Yale.

"The caption has made me rofl..." one person wrote.

Some other commenters, meanwhile, have noted that Dr Dre has donated money to USC - having given $70 million to create a new academy at the university with fellow music mogul Jimmy Iovine back in 2013.

"The vision and generosity of Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young will profoundly influence the way all of us perceive and experience artistic media," said USC President C. L. Max Nikias at the time.

"USC provides an extraordinarily rich academic, research and artistic environment. We are committed to encouraging our students to use their intellectual and creative resources to effect change in all segments of society. Our goal is to ensure that the academy is the most collaborative educational program in the world."

One person commented on Dre's Insta post: "Idk bro. I mean $70 mil? I think I might have been angry if my kid were rejected after all that $."

Someone else said: "These Hollywood bitches only gave about 250.000 $ per kid. YOU gave 70million$ for your kid to get in! Sit your ass down!"

Another person added: "You literally donated a building to the school lol."

But some people had nothing but love for the news, offering up their sincere congrats to Dre and his daughter.

"Awesome, congrats to her and you," one Instagrammer said.

"That is a huge accomplishment!! Congratulations to you both!" another added.

A third said: "As a teacher I must say, it is parents like you that are THE KEY to a child's success. Congratulations to your daughter, may she shine bright. Cheers!"
