'Drivers License' singer Olivia Rodrigo has shared the downside to being a motorist after she was whacked with a parking ticket.

The 18-year-old singer, who broke Spotify records with the track, shared a snap of the violation notice on Instagram, writing alongside it: "Damn this driving s*** isn't all fun and games."

'Drivers License' is the biggest song of 2021 so far, flying straight to number one back in January and then staying there for nine weeks.

According to the NME, it's had more than 80 million streams and sold 707,000 copies in the UK. Not too shabby, eh?

Speaking to Billboard about the song's runaway success, Rodrigo said: "I've gotten texts from people who are going on walks, and they'll be walking past a house that is just blasting 'Drivers License'.

"Or they'll be driving and pull up next to a car at a stop light, and the other car will be playing 'Drivers License'.

"You can see all the numbers and all the No. 1 charts, but to see people in their day-to-day lives listening to this song, having it resonate with them? That's been insane."

But despite making a hit record out of it, the singer has previously admitted that it took her a while to get her hands on her driving license.

In an interview with radio station P4.5 PST, Rodrigo said: "Essentially, the time I got my drivers license it was my fourth try, which is really sad."

She went on to explain that her test was cancelled due to Covid-19 and then her second attempt didn't go ahead due to work commitments for High School Musical: The Series.

It wasn't third time lucky, either, with Rodrigo explaining: "I'm sitting in the car and the guy comes by and he's checking my lights and stuff like that, and he goes, 'OK, honk your horn now'.

"And I go to honk my horn and the horn doesn't work on my mum's car and she had no idea that the horn doesn't work on her car because she never uses her horn because she's the calmest person in the whole world."

The car was eventually deemed not safe to carry out the test in so had to be rescheduled and it was this fourth try that finally resulted in the teen being given her license.

She added: "I got there eventually!"

Well, after all that palaver I can see why she wrote a song about it.
