George Clooney Gave His Mates A Million Dollars Each And Is Basically The Nicest LAD Ever

The actor and director handed out suitcases containing $1m in cash to his best pals to thank them for helping him get to where he is today

Is there nothing George Clooney can't do? He has been voted People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive' twice - in 1997 and 2006 - he's won two Oscars, and once 'accidentally' set up a Tequila company that he sold for nearly $1 billion (£748 million).

Now, they say that God doesn't give with both hands, but he obviously decided to break that habit when he made Georgie - as it turns out he's also a really nice guy as well.

Outside of his charity work that he does with his wife Amal (they recently helped 3,000 Syrian refugee children get an education), he's also made a few grand gestures that show how thoughtful he is.

According to his mate Rande Gerber (who he started the Casamigos tequila company with), Clooney also gave 14 of his closest mates $1m (£748,000) each - and even paid an extra $300,000 (£224,000) in tax per person so that the money would all be theirs.

In an interview with MSNBC TV show Headliners, Gerber explained how the actor brought up the subject with his pals. "George begins to say, 'Listen, I want you guys to know how much you've meant to me and how much you mean to me in my life,'" said Gerber.

"'I came to Los Angeles, I slept on your couch. I'm so fortunate in my life to have all of you and I couldn't be where I am today without all of you.

"'So it was really important to me that while we're still all here together, that I give back. So I want you all to open your suitcases.'

Gerber continued: "Every one of us - 14 of us - got a million dollars. Every single one of us. We're in shock. Like, 'what is this?'

"He goes, 'I know we've all been through some hard times, some of you are still going through it. You don't have to worry about your kids, you don't have to worry about, you know, school, you don't have to worry about paying your mortgage,'"

What a guy. How many people - no matter how rich they are - would ever do that for all of their mates?

This is not the only report that has surfaced of Clooney's kindness.

After the birth of his twins, Ella and Alexander, he was apparently so worried about them crying on a transatlantic flight that he handed out headphones for every passenger on the plane so that they wouldn't be disturbed.

The headphones (which even Quentin Tarantino got hold of) were branded with the Casamigos tequila logo and came with a note 'apologising ahead of time' according to Page Six.

What a LAD.
