You may have recently been made aware that Ben Affleck has an absolutely massive, multi-coloured tattoo of a phoenix rising from his arse the ashes on his back.

You may have been made aware of this fact by the sheer volume of people flooding social media to rip the actor over his ink.

I mean, God love him, these people did not hold back; one guy wrote: "Next time you're feeling sad, remember that you're not Ben Affleck so you (probably) don't have a tattoo so big and so ugly and so universally ridiculed that you had to lie and say it was only temporary and just for a movie when it is so clearly not."

Another posted: "Don't mock Ben Affleck's phoenix tattoo. It symbolises how he has risen from the ashes, reborn as a guy with a tattoo that sucks."

While a third said: "Ben Affleck's back tattoo is, and I'm saying this without hyperbole, one of the funniest goddamn things I've ever seen in my entire life. Holy moly. What a wonderful gift to all of us this is. Truly a great day to be alive because of this obscenely dumb tattoo."

Anyway, fast forward a couple of weeks and Ben has finally spoken out about his tattoo on social media. In response to a tweet from The New Yorker, about the 'great sadness of Ben Affleck' he replied:

So there we have it, guys. He's fine. Absolutely no regrets, OK?

He got the giant, colourful tattoo back in 2015, shortly after his break-up from wife Jennifer Garner - it was first snapped in all it's glory during filming for a scene for Live By Night when he was made to wear an open-backed hospital gown. He tried to claim it was fake and just for the upcoming movie - but we all know that's a lie.

When ex-wife Jennifer Garner was asked what she thought about Ben's tatt, she told Vanity Fair: "You know what we would say in my hometown about that? 'Bless his heart'.

"A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario? I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes."

Ouch.

But that was pretty composed compared to what his former fiancée Jennifer Lopez said when she was asked about it on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.

She told the TV host: "It's awful! What are you doing? His tattoos always have too many colours, they shouldn't be so colourful.

"They should be cooler."
