You Don’t See Much More Of Megan Fox Anymore Because Of A Few Wrong Words

You Don’t See Much More Of Megan Fox Anymore Because Of A Few Wrong Words

She was dubbed one of the hottest women in the world 10 years ago and then seemingly dropped off the face of the planet...

When the Michael Bay directed epic Transformers was released in 2007, Megan Fox was on everyone's lips. While she had had some success on TV, it was this film that catapulted her into stardom and saw her regularly featured on 'Top 10 Hottest Women' lists the world over.

But as with some people who find sudden fame, Ms Fox didn't handle it well.

Her Transformers co-star, Shia LaBeouf, told the Los Angeles Times in 2011: "This is a girl who was taken from complete obscurity and placed in a sex-driven role in front of the whole world and told she was the sexiest woman in America."

To be fair, you can't blame the now 31-year-old for being a bit overcome by the intense coverage of everything she did once the movie came out. Her celebrity got so large in 2009 that several men's websites called to boycott her due to overexposure.

Megan told Nylon Magazine: "I was part of a movie that [the studio] wanted to make sure would make $700 million, so they oversaturated the media with their stars. I don't want to have people get completely sick of me before I've ever even done something legitimate."

But her retreat from the spotlight was kind of her own doing.

Ms Fox went on to star alongside LaBeouf for the sequel Revenge of the Fallen, however was unceremoniously dropped from any future projects. The third movie ham-fisted the new love interest Rosie Huntington-Whiteley without any decent coverage of why the Mikaela Banes character wasn't around.

But Megan didn't want her presence in the pop-culture sphere to continue without her speaking her mind; and she had some very choice words to say about director Michael Bay - the man who made her into a star.

Speaking to Wonderland Magazine in 2009, Ms Fox said: "He's like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation.

"He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is.

"So he's a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he's not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he's so awkward, so hopelessly awkward. He has no social skills at all. And it's endearing to watch him."

Probably not the best thing to slag off the bloke who has the power to drop you from his franchise at any moment.

Michael Bay revealed two years later what happened following those divisive comments. He told GQ: "You know the Hitler thing. Steven (Spielberg) said, fire her right now.

"I wasn't hurt, because I know that's just Megan. Megan loves to get a response," Bay said. "And she does it in kind of the wrong way. I'm sorry, Megan. I'm sorry I made you work 12 hours. I'm sorry that I'm making you show up on time. Movies are not always warm and fuzzy."

Since the end of her involvement in that franchise, she's gone on to appear in 10 films and four TV shows. The majority of the films where she was a lead flopped, and some flopped bad, with one film receiving a whopping 3 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Megan recently told Cosmopolitan: "[Being dumped from Transformers] was absolutely the low point of my career.

"But without - 'that thing,' I wouldn't have learned as quickly as I did. All I had to do was apologize - and I refused. I was so self-righteous at 23, I couldn't see [that] it was for the greater good. I really thought I was Joan of Arc."

She says she very much has her hands full raising the three kids she conceived with husband Brain Austin Green.
