Jennifer Lawrence Says She's Terrified Of Herself On Flights

Jennifer Lawrence Says She's Terrified Of Herself On Flights

She suffers from the same fears we all have when flying.

Getting on a plane is scary enough without knowing about the dangers of flying.

People will often tell you that, 'statistically, flying is the safest mode of transport'. Which is nice, but what if the thing just stops working mid-air? What if the doors never open again? What if there's a really smelly bloke sat next to me? What if I poo myself? WHAT'S THE PROCEDURE?

Of course, there usually is a procedure for most of the things that could go wrong, it's just that we rarely pay attention to anything the flight attendants tell us during the safety demonstrations.

Either way, depending on the type of person you are, a few hours cooked up inside a cabin might send you west.

People who fly frequently aren't immune to this, either. Jennifer Lawrence, who you'd assume spends an awful lot of her time in the air as she flies around promoting films, suffers from plane anxiety.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly she spoke of how she's terrified of losing control of herself while on a flight, through fear of something disastrous happening.

"It's scary not being able to control yourself - I've recently had problems with plane anxiety and it's really similar," she said. "I'm not afraid of the airplane, I'm afraid of me on the airplane and losing control of myself."

She went on to claim that she has shouted that the aircraft is going down, just through nervousness in the middle of turbulence.

She added: "You know when they hit an air pocket and it feels like you're falling? I did it on a night flight one time, 'we're going down! It's coming down!'"

"I can't believe I didn't get arrested. I got really claustrophobic and I had to get out."

To be quite honest, when you think about it, it does make more and more sense that airport bars are there not to rinse you of your money, but to calm your nerves for the coming hours.

Lawrence may get a break from jet-setting soon, as she's revealed she's temporarily quitting acting.

Speaking to Savannah Guthrie on the Today Show, Lawrence said that she doesn't have 'anything set' for the next couple of years.

She also added: "People feel so entitled to everything. You know, like when I'm getting photographed just like walking to Starbucks, I'm like why does anybody feel - why do we feel entitled to this?

"[At first] I was angry and resentful because I thought I deserved the right to do what I love and to do my job, and then still have privacy, and then after a few years you're like, but that's not just way it is, it's just not.

"But it's important to just keep a separation and know that the people screaming outside of a premiere, they're screaming because of a job and because of a character.

"I don't go home like, 'oh my God. Did you hear that, how much they love me?' So, I don't put any stock on it."
