Katie Holmes And Jamie Foxx Finally Go Public After Tom Cruise's 'Dating Ban' Lapses

Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx have just gone public as a couple for the first time, after years of speculation that they were an item. But if you thought that was because they played a very good game of cat-and-mouse with tabloid outlets, think again.

When Ms Holmes split from actor Tom Cruise in 2012, a clause was included in their divorce proceedings which meant she couldn't date anyone publicly until June 2017.

A source told Radar Online it was meant to protect their daughter Suri, as well as ensure that Holmes didn't bad mouth Cruise or the Church of Scientology (in which the Mission Impossible star is believed to be a key figure).

"She's allowed to date, but she cannot do so in a public fashion, and she's not supposed to let any boyfriend near their daughter," they said.

"Katie wanted out of the marriage so badly, she agreed to the terms - and got $4.8 million (£3.7m) in child support, plus another $5m (£3.8m) for herself."

If she breaks any part of the agreement, she would reportedly lose the money. But now that the embargo has been lifted, the pair have been spotted holding hands on a beach in Malibu, California.

The mum-of-one has had to dodge questions about her relationships ever since the split from Cruise, telling More magazine in January 2016: "That's not something I want to answer."

But speculation has circulated about Foxx and Holmes since as early as 2013. They were first spotted together at a charity party in the Hamptons, but also had to fend off questions from the media, labelling the claims '100 percent not true'.

The media hype around the pair got so intense, according to the Mirror, Katie would have wear wigs and big hats to disguise herself when meeting up with the Academy award winning actor. They didn't help the rumours when, in 2015, they were seen holding hands in a recording studio.

The following year Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Claudia Jordan let slip: "He is very happy with her. I like that he seems very happy."

Since then they've been seen in Paris and New York City and boarding the same private jet.

Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx have worked together in the past on Collateral, which was released in 2004, before the Top Gun actor had married Ms Holmes.
