Liam Neeson Reunited With Ex Helen Mirren On Graham Norton

Bumping into a former flame is usually pretty rough - for some reason, it always seems to happen when you're not looking your best; if they try and make small-talk it's awkward; if they blank you, you'll end up raging, the list goes on. However, ex partners Liam Neeson and Helen Mirren have put on a masterclass when it comes to seeing your past other-half.

The pair were reunited on The Graham Norton Show, which airs tonight on BBC, and whereas you or I might rather stick pins in our eyes than have to share a sofa with an ex, classy Liam and Helen were happy to see each other (or put on an Oscar-worthy performance).

Of course, as they're appearing on TV the pair are looking polished and lovely, not at all how you look when you see your ex in Asda, so that probably helps.

Seventy-two-year old Helen and Liam, 65, were an item from 1980 to 1985, after they met on the set of Excalibur, a film they both stared in.

When Graham questioned the pair about their relationship, Helen said: "We didn't date, we lived together for four years - we were a serious item for a while. Lucky me!" How nice is that?

Not to be outdone, Liam told the host that he had been 'smitten' with the British actress from the very first time he saw her.

He said: "I remember being on the set and standing with Ciaran Hinds as Helen walked towards us dressed in her full Morgana Le Fey costume and we both went, 'Oh fuck' and I was smitten."

A shocked Helen, then replied: "I never knew that. You've never told me that before - it's amazing." These two are far too adorable, aren't they?

Liam also shared the story about when he knew that his feelings were reciprocated, telling Graham: "Before I met her and we worked together I had read somewhere that if she fancied a guy she would imitate his walk behind his back.

"I turned around one day and she was doing that to me."

Despite how lovely they are about each other, it seems like a romantic reunion isn't on the cards: Helen has been married to Taylor Hackford for almost 20 years and Liam has been in an on/off relationship with Freya St Johnson since 2011.

The Graham Norton Show airs tonight on BBC1 at 10.35pm and will be available on iPlayer shortly after.
