Ed Sheeran Reveals The Weirdest Gift He's Received From A Fan

One second it's normal. The next it is absolutely not.

When you hit the big time, it is taken as standard that fans will send you some weird things.

The odd pair of underwear maybe, a collection photographs from the fan who has had a selfie with you over 100 times.

But, for Ed Sheeran, things got a little weird when a fan sent him a cake. Initially, nothing sounds wrong with that sentence, but as this clip from The Jonathan Ross Show reveals, things took a strange turn for the worse.

There may have been a time when Ed Sheeran had to request gifts from his fans just for singing a couple of songs.

A tweet from 2011 recently resurfaced which shows just how far he has come.

On 4 August six years ago, Ed wrote: "Is there anyone near the Mad Ferret in Preston that can give me a cup of tea and a shower in return for a tune?"

Since then he has risen to fame, and even closed out Glastonbury Festival earlier this year.

In those six years, he explained to host Jonathan Ross that some things he's received have been of higher quality than a brew and a bit of warm water.

"I get some really cool things from fans," he explained. "Like a fan knitted me a doll that was like a perfect thing. It even had like the tattoos and the necklace and everything."

But then he told of things can be strange sometimes.

He added: "Occasionally you the weird things. I got baked a lot of cakes and at the beginning of my career I ate the cakes, you do, if you're given cakes, you eat them."

"I've never baked a cake, I've never ate," interrupted Ross.

Ed continued to explain in one of those cakes, there was something not quite cakey in it. He said: "As I pulled it out, it was just this big clump of hair. I was kind of like, it's a mistake when there are one or two hairs, but when it's a clump.

"I have a feeling that this girl kind of wanted me to eat the cake so next time she saw me she could be like, 'I'm inside you'."

Sheeran, who appeared on the show alongside David Walliams and Stacey Solomon, was met with the same look of disgust from everyone.

"I'm the one who gave him the cake," joked Walliams.
