Alongside the drama and plot twists of Game Of Thrones, there was one side-story that captured our hearts - the blossoming of Tormund's love for Brienne of Tarth.

Admittedly, Brienne doesn't really reciprocate those deep stares on screen. However, the actress who plays her, Gwendoline Christie, has somewhat warmer feelings for the character.

Speaking to Seth Meyers on Late Night, she admitted she loves Tormund really - and that the actor who plays him, Kristofer Hivju, behaves exactly the same way regardless of whether the cameras are rolling.

Responding to the host's questions about Tormund's lustful gazes towards Brienne, the actress said: "It's terrifying, isn't it?"

"He is into me - he likes to continue being in character even off set. We'll be in an 'easy-up', which is a dark tent, with a gas heater burning away, and he will start chewing a sandwich wildly at me, sort of masticating wildly at me. Really kind of making love to that sandwich as he eyeballs. Eyes like lasers.

"I'm a classically trained actress, but this is the one time that I dissolve, without fail because nobody told me.

"In the script it says, 'Tormund gives Brienne a look' - I was not expecting the power, the magnitude of the intense sexual intention to pour out of man's eyes and cover me.

"I feel it comes out of the screen."

Those eyes are pretty intense, we'll give her that.

For a long time, Tormund (played by Kristofer Hivju) hid his love for Brienne, but in episode six of the penultimate series, he finally admitted it all.

Talking to The Hound, Tormund said: "I have a beauty waiting for me back at Winterfell, if I ever get back there.

"Yellow hair, blue eyes; tallest woman you've ever seen. Almost as tall as you."

It was soon obvious who he was on about.

But the on-screen chemistry between the pair made for great viewing, helping cement them as two of the most loveable characters on the HBO hit series.

Underlining that point, Christie later told Meyers of a fan encounter in an American restaurant.

She said: "I went to the restroom, entered the cubicle, shut the door, and then underneath the door slid a telephone connected to a hand.

"A woman on the other side just said 'selfie'."

It would appear that she did not oblige, and I think that's probably fair enough.
