Whether you love or hate the Fast and Furious franchise, a spin off with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham is happening. It will reportedly be called Hobbs and Shaw; the names of the two actor's characters and filming is expected to get underway in September this year.

While it's taken a while for the film to get off the ground, it's finally got a director: David Leitch, according to Entertainment Weekly. Mr Leitch has been responsible for John Wick, Atomic Blonde, V for Vendetta and Deadpool 2.

It seems as though his ties to that Marvel film and Hobbs and Shaw has angered one Ryan Reynolds, who we all know plays Wade Wilson aka Deadpool.

David told his fans to 'buckle up' when news broke of his involvement with the Fast and Furious spin off, but Reynolds wanted to chuck a bit of banter into the ring.

Writing on Twitter, the Canadian actor wrote: "You promised Deadpool was in this. You said I get to play the no-nonsense Police Chief, who yells at Hobbs for crashing his 58 valve Nissan Sentra into an Olive Garden. Put me in coach."

To be fair, I think we can all safely say that having Deadpool in Hobbs and Shaw would only improve it.

According to IMDb, the upcoming spin off will be 'focusing on Johnson's US Diplomatic Security Agent Luke Hobbs forming an unlikely alliance with Statham's Deckard Shaw'. Yeah, Reynolds' character would definitely provide a good level of comedy and immortality to that story.

Whether he's actually serious about wanting to be in the movie is unknown but we're all rooting for Ryan to keep submitting audition tapes until he's told to stop. It could just be another case of Reynolds trolling on social media, which he's pretty good at.

He recently took a dig at Hugh Jackman for posting a touching message to his wife of more than two decades.

The Logan star wrote: "I believe in life we need to see and truly be seen by the most important people in our lives.

"Deb, from day one, we had that. 22 years later ... it only gets deeper. You and the kids are the greatest gift I will ever receive. I love you a gazillion times around the world."

Before anyone got the chance to break out the tissues, Reynolds swooped in and said: "I gave this 3 months. Tops. I was wrong."
