His speech was slightly slurred and people were quick to highlight it on social media.

It was an all-star cast on the red couch of The Graham Norton Show this week. Well, it's usually a star-studded affair, but this one featured the likes of Michelle Pfeiffer, Sir Kenneth Branagh, Dame Judi Dench, Josh Gad and Johnny Depp - all of whom appear in the new movie Murder on the Orient Express.

Each actor had a different story to tell, as they usually do, but one managed to attract some criticism from viewers. But it wasn't really what he said that caused people to flood social media, but the way he said it.

Johnny Depp regaled a story about how he dressed up as his incredibly famous Pirates of the Caribbean character Jack Sparrow and went to Disneyland to scare people.

He told Graham and the crowd: "I thought, how great would it be able to have the opportunity to stand there as some sort of animatronic until the people walk by and then you start screaming and scare them into a mischief.

"They all looked at me as they were coming around [in a boat], and I'm frozen, and I went 'Oi what are you looking at', and then nothing."

Johnny Depp's career has involved some incredibly colourful, eccentric, quirky and weird characters. There's no denying that those adjectives apply to Depp as a person as well, but viewers thought there might have been something else adding to his behaviour on the night.

Many questioned whether he was high or drunk when he appeared on the show as his words were slightly slurred and his speech was oddly phrased. But that's not the first time he's been accused of being drunk on the job this week.

The London premiere for Murder on the Orient Express took place on Thursday, with a person telling the Sun: "On the night of the premiere, he was in a strange mood and everyone thought he'd been drinking."

Pictures have also emerged of him on the red carpet with his security looking like they were holding him upright and directing him where to go.

While some questioned his sobriety on The Graham Norton Show, others were quick to question why he was on the couch at all. The start of the show involved a few jokes about the allegations being levelled against Kevin Spacey, and some viewers thought it was disrespectful to have Depp on the show considering the domestic violence accusations claimed by his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Amber Heard filed for divorce against Johnny Depp in May last year but it wasn't properly finalised until January. The actor also applied for a restraining order against the Pirates of the Caribbean star, claiming, 'during the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me'.

Over the course of his career, he's been arrested twice for assault and once for trashing a hotel room in New York City.
