About a year ago today, one of the greatest love stories of our time began - professional tennis player Genie Bouchard agreed to go on a date with a fan after he won a bet with her on Twitter.

Now the former Wimbledon finalist has confirmed that the pair will be venturing to where it all began - the Super Bowl, which is taking place in Minneapolis, Minnesota tonight.

In posts to her social media channels last night Genie shared snaps with her 'date' John Goehrke at NFL Honors, the awards ceremony which traditionally takes place the night before the Super Bowl. Safe to assume they're heading to the game now?

In case you haven't been paying attention, in the middle of last year's Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons, Genie foolishly tweeted that the Falcons would win - a safe bet as the Pats were way behind at the time.

That led Goehrke, one of Genie's 1.6 million Twitter followers, to ask her for a date if the Patriots won. Miraculously, the Pats did end up winning, and Genie bravely lived up to her end of the bargain, taking John to a basketball game in New York City.

One year on from that fateful bet, Genie and Goehrke have now been spotted meeting up again several times, taking a dip at Miami beach and lounging around the house at the Christmas period. Is it safe to assume that they're officially an item now?

Early last week NFL Canada tweeted the 'couple' to invite them to attend tonight's Super Bowl, which will see the New England Patriots take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Will Genie be wiser and bet against the Patriots this time?

Some over-eager or slightly jealous types have suggested that the pair should go double or nothing this year - either getting engaged at tonight's game or never seeing one another ever again.

If that idea sounds a bit much to you, at least this amazing story gives hope to everyday folk everywhere - one day, tweeting our favs might just prove worthwhile.
