Many of us have fallen foul of the botched DIY haircut, particularly during lockdown, and it seems as though even the rich and famous aren't immune, with Grimes recently showing off the unusual trim she gave to little X Æ A-12.

She then shared a photo of the finished result, and judging by the photos, it appears Grimes cut down the sides of X Æ A-12's hair while keeping the top longer.

Showing off her handiwork she wrote: "Not sure this haircut went well but he's a Viking now."

In an additional update, she added: "Haircut inspired by The Last Kingdom on Netflix, which is a masterpiece."

I mean, yeah, let's be honest - you can sort of see where she was going with this.

However, on social media fans were quick to urge Grimes not to quit the day job and become a full-time barber.

One person wrote: "Who even gives an eight month old a haircut? Let alone with a huge pair of scissors."

Another said: "Grimes giving her new baby an uneven and patchy haircut bc she watched a show with Vikings and decided she wanted him to have a Viking haircut is... extremely on brand."

This isn't the first time Grimes has caused a stir with the youngster, when he was just days old social media went into a frenzy when she and partner Elon Musk announced the unusual moniker they were giving their son.

Explaining it on Twitter she said:

While in an interview with Joe Rogan, Musk also explained: "First of all, my partner is the one who, mostly, actually came up with the name. I mean it's just X, the letter X.

"And then the Æ is, like, pronounced 'ash'... yeah... and then A-12 is my contribution."

Although when it came to registering the little fella they had to make a hasty change in keeping with Californian law.

According to state legislation, people cannot have Indo-Arabic numerals in their names, so the singer and the billionaire couple changed it to... X Æ A-Xii.

Grimes confirmed the news on her Instagram account after a fan asked: "Did you change the baby name because of Californian laws? What is the baby's new name?"

The Canadian popstar replied: "X Æ A-Xii."
