Jay Z Sends Out Rolex Watches As VIP Invites

Mine must have got lost in the post...

Jay Z sent out Rolex watches worth thousands with the VIP invites to a recent shindig he organised - which, to be honest, makes that group chat I made to try and sort out a Christmas night out look s***.

Inviting some extra special guests to the Shawn Carter Foundation Gala, the rapper spared no expense throwing in a Daytona Rolex and a bottle of his Ace of Spades champagne.

Fellow rappers Meek Mill and Swizz Beatz shared the fancy pants invites on social media, giving us all a green-eyed glimpse of how the other half live.

Swizz Beatz wrote: "Levels. Hov is on another level with the invite game. It came with a Daytona Rolex and a bottle of Ace."

While Meek Mill posted: "Hov sent these as VIP passes. SMH this rich s*** getting out of control lol." Indeed.

The Daytona Rolex are available in a number of finishes... and none of them are cheap. The cheapest start at £9,550 and go right the way up to £34,055.

It's hard to tell from the shot, but it looks as though the ones Jay sent out are the 40mm yellow gold version, which would set you back an eye watering £28,300.

Still, it's not like he can't afford it. Back in June it was announced by Forbes that Jay Z was the first rapper to hit the one-billion-dollar mark. Impressive.

Although many of us (well, me, at least) thought that Dr Dre was the first rapper to make $1bn, after he sold Beats to Apple in 2014 in a $3bn deal. It turns out by the time he split it with his business partner Jimmy Iovine, giving shares to Beats' investors and paying out for other various fees and taxes, Dre ended up with around $400m. Try not to cry hard for him, though, eh?

Meanwhile, aside from his music, Jay Z can credit his fortune to a number of shrewd investments he's made as well as other high-earning projects such as his champagne brand and Tidal streaming service.

Forbes also reckons a billion might be a conservative estimate and that the star could be worth a lot more. Don't suppose you fancy lending me £50 do you, Jay?
