Jeff Goldblum Announces He’s Releasing A Debut Album

A record label was impressed by his skills when he appeared on 'Graham Norton' last year and have signed him

He's the quirky, eccentric guy who's been in some of the biggest movies of all time. But just when you thought Jeff Goldblum wasn't talented enough, the actor has announced he's planning to release an album. And it's all thanks to Graham Norton.

You're probably wondering what does an Irish TV host have to do with an American getting a record deal.

It was when Goldblum appeared on The Graham Norton Show last year to promote Thor: Ragnarok and to talk about his wife being a contortionist - as you do. But when the musical guest for the evening, Gregory Porter, got on stage, Jeff jumped on the piano to help out.

According to NME, it seems as though his skills on the ivory were enough to catch the attention of the people at Universal. Their classical label, Decca Records, sent a representative to Los Angeles to talk about turning that into a full album.

But it's about time, to be honest, as the Jurassic Park legend has showed off his piano playing skills and dulcet tones for years on various night time talk shows and in various videos.

Decca director of A&R Tom Lewis said in a statement: "As far as I can tell, everyone loves Jeff Goldblum. He's a fantastic jazz pianist, a great band leader and just about the loveliest man in the world.

"His love of jazz is infectious and whenever he plays he makes you feel very happy.

"If we can take Jeff's music into people's homes then we will be helping, in our own small way, to make the world a happier place."

Decca also has Alexandra Burke, Seal, Andrea Bocelli and The Lumineers on its books.

Jeff added: "I'm so happy to be in cahoots with the wonderful people at Decca, one of the coolest and most prestigious labels of all time."

We're so happy as well because it means that we'll not only get to enjoy his presence in movies but also on our music playlists. The next we'll see of Goldblum is him reprising his famous role of Dr Ian Malcolm for the Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom film alongside Chris Pratt.

Interestingly, it was recently revealed that one scene involving him in the original Jurassic Park franchise was completely improvised.

Everyone knows this scene - the one where Dr Malcolm is resting up with a poorly leg and his shirt entirely unbuttoned for seemingly no reason - aka the scene that's provided meme gold ever since memes became a thing.

Because it's such a baffling set-up, it's become a classic moment in cinematic history. But why did it happen? Well, apparently it was all Jeff Goldblum's doing, which makes it eeeeeven better.

During the 25th anniversary celebration of Jurassic Park's theatrical debut, Goldblum was asked how the whole thing came about - only for him to reveal that his iconic shirtless scene in Jurassic Park was completely unscripted.

We need to thank American film and TV director Jordan Vogt-Roberts not only for asking Goldblum outright, but also for bringing it to our attention.

It goes to show just how much power the Goldblum has - if he feels like unbuttoning his shift for a scene, literally no one says anything. They just go with it.
