Joe Rogan made a whopping $30 million (£23 million) last year as a podcaster, according to Forbes - which has placed him at the top of its inaugural list of the highest-earning podcasters.

Rogan, whose career spans comedy, TV hosting, acting and mixed martial arts commentating, launched his popular podcast The Joe Rogan Experience back in 2009.

Since then he's interviewed everyone from Elon Musk to Mike Tyson, with promises of a podcast with Kanye West surfacing last year.

Joe Rogan's podcasting efforts landed him a top spot on Forbes' list this year, with My Favorite Murder's Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark taking number two spot with $15 million (£11.5m), and finance guru Dave Ramsay in third place with $10m (£7.6m).

Tom Webster, senior vice president at Edison Research, told Forbes: "[Rogan is] delivering scale and engagement."

Webster added: "He's the no. 1 in terms of reach in the U.S."

And as well as being named the highest-earning podcaster on the airwaves, 52-year-old Rogan recently announced he's also had some recent success in his bid to get fit, having managed to shed an impressive 12 pounds and even gained 'a tonne of energy' to boot.

For the past month, Rogan has been following a strict regime that cuts out all vegetables, fruit, grains, nuts, and seeds in favour of meat, fish, and other animal foods such as eggs and some dairy products.

He decided to take on the challenge after he stepped on a set of scales during a podcast last year and found that he weighed 205lbs (14.5st) - which he said was the 'fattest he had ever been'.

In a video posted to his Instagram account, he showed off his trim torso, saying: "So I did the carnivore diet for all of January, I lost 12 pounds, gained a tonne of energy - my energy levels were completely flat the whole month, no ups and downs from crashing after eating.

"I had a belly; a lot of people made fun of me, fat-shamed me. I lost all my fat, I lost the belly, I lost my love handles. I don't know if I'm gonna keep eating like this but it was tremendously beneficial.

"I also have an auto-immune disorder, it's called vitiligo, and my vitiligo improved, I had a bunch of white spots fill in, so, I don't know."

He added: "I went into this thing thinking this carnivore diet was wacky and probably thought it was nonsense, but this is as good as I've felt in a long time and it's just one month."
