John Travolta Mistakes Drag Queen Jade Jolie for Taylor Swift at VMAs

John Travolta Mistakes Drag Queen Jade Jolie for Taylor Swift at VMAs

In what could have been a quite embarrassing faux pas, John Travolta mistook drag queen Jade Jolie for Taylor Swift at the VMAs, which took place in New Jersey last night (26 August).

When he attempted to present the award for Video of the Year to Swift for 'You Need to Calm Down' at the MTV event, the veteran actor instead tried to hand the trophy to RuPaul's Drag Race star Jolie. Looking a bit confused, the drag queen shook off the mistake, giving Travolta a hug.

The rightful owner, Taylor Swift then eventually received her award, but not before Travolta's mistake was noticed by everyone. Obviously, people took to social media to share their joy at the awkward moment.

In all fairness, Jade does look quite similar to Taylor, and she's also known for doing a bang-on impression of the star. Not only that, but it also looks as though she was dressed as her - who can blame Travolta for making the little slip-up.

Naturally, the incident took everyone back to Travolta's last embarrassing mistake. At the Oscars in 2014, he made headlines yet again. When introducing actress and singer Idina Menzel, John, for some unknown reason, called her Adele Dazeem. To make it up to her, he sent a huge bouquet of flowers to her dressing room as an apology for the embarrassing mix-up.
