The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco has revealed her hair recently caught on fire while in a bar in Italy, but that she didn't realise at first due to locals' warnings getting hilariously lost in translation. Watch her explain in the video below:

Cuoco spoke out about the, er, hairy moment with her Instagram followers, explaining she'd been in the Italian capital of Rome filming for her new show, The Flight Attendant, and decided to go for a drink in a bar with some friends.

The 34-year-old recalled: "I'm just sitting there and enjoying myself, talking to the girls, and I smell something - and it smells like someone is burning toast. I'm like, 'It stinks in here.'

"I see one of my girlfriends' eyes go really big. Out of nowhere this guy comes behind me, and what I'm thinking is, 'Is he attacking me?'

"And he's patting me down! I'm like, 'Oh my God! I'm getting attacked!'"

Cuoco explained that she heard someone repeatedly shouting 'Fuoco!', which means 'fire' in Italian.

The only thing is, 'fuoco' sounds an awful lot like the actor's unique surname, Cuoco.

She continued: "My narcissistic brain goes, 'Yes, I'm Miss Cuoco, yes, do you want a picture? Of course.'

"I'm literally thinking they're saying 'Cuoco, Cuoco, Cuoco'."

Eventually the penny dropped, and Cuoco realised that she was, in fact, on fire.

The star went on to confirm that not only was she thankfully unharmed, saying it was lucky that her hair had been tied up and didn't have any product in it, but also that both her jacket and her hair 'lived'.

Admitting she ended up finding the whole experience 'hilarious', Cuoco said she and her friends went out for more drinks to take the edge off what could have been a pretty horrific night out.

"It was definitely an experience I'll never forget and a bonding moment between me and my cast for them to see me so lit up," added Cuoco, who recently married equestrian Karl Cook.

"It was hilarious, s*** happens."

Fortunately, Cuoco's final shoot with the Big Bang crew looked a lot less dramatic.

When filming wrapped last May, she shared a photo of the group on set, writing: "Final group scene. That's a wrap."

Kunal Nayyar, who plays Raj, also posted a similar picture, writing: "Thank you. Thank you for your words. Thank you for your encouragement. Thank you for tuning in night in and night out.

"Thank you for the stories you shared about how this show made you feel. Thank you too, for the not so nice times.

"Thank you, for lifting us up when we were down. Fame can feel like a cage, so thank you for making us feel safe enough to be free.

"Thank you for letting me share my birthday on stage with my six best friends, and thank you, for you, because without you - there would be no us. So this goes out to you, the fans... One last time. In love and gratitude."
