Posting the video, West tweeted: "THANK YOU DAVE FOR HOPPING ON A JET TO COME SEE ME DOING WELL DAVE YOU ARE A GOD SEND AND A TRUE FRIEND ALL LOVE."
In the clip, the two are stood with friends outside a building, all facing the camera in a line.
West repeatedly tells Chappelle to say something funny, hoping that he might bring 'some joy' and 'a smile' to everyone.
The comedian, clearly put on the spot, looks to the camera and says: "Brotherhood is real. Love is real."

But a disappointed West turns to his friend and says: "Wait a sec [...] We need some jokes, something to lift our spirits."
Chappelle replied: "S***, I don't know. I'm still on my first cup of coffee. Alright, let me think of a good joke."
Freezing up, he tries to walk out of frame, but West calls him back, begging: "Just give us one thing to lift our spirits, please."

Chappelle quips back: "An uplifting joke? Now you know I don't write them!"
As everyone laughs, it seems Chappelle has finally succeeded.
Many fans have expressed their concern over West's wellbeing recently, with some calling on those close to him to make sure he's doing OK following some bizarre public behaviour.

Just yesterday, the musician posted a string of tweets, claiming in one that that wife Kim Kardashian tried to get a doctor to 'lock him up'.
He also claimed mother-in-law Kris Jenner was 'not allowed' to spend time with his and Kim's four children, and hit out at her for allowing daughters Kim and Kylie Jenner to pose for Playboy magazine.
While many of the tweets have since been deleted, one that says his children 'will never do Playboy' remains live.
The day before, he had also been seen in tears at his rally in South Carolina, telling the crowd that he and Kim nearly aborted their first child, North West, and that his dad had wanted to abort him.

He said: "Even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world, even when I didn't want to.
"She stood up and she protected that child.
"You know who else protected a child? Who do you think might have protected a child? My mum saved my life. My dad wanted to abort me. My mum saved my life. There would have been no Kanye West, because my dad was too busy!"
