Zac Efron Keeps Getting Spotted In Byron Bay And It's Sending Fans Into A Frenzy

Whether on a state, federal or international level, the coronavirus pandemic has forced many of us to remain where we are for the time being - not much chance of showing up in places outside of where we live.

So it's strange that Hollywood superstar Zac Efron has been spotted in and around the coastal town of Byron Bay.

The dreamy New South Wales town is home to the likes of Thor actor Chris Hemsworth and is a regular jaunt for many celebrities, but in this age of a worldwide pandemic, sightings of an American A-lister seem strange, particularly as borders remain locked down.

People have posted on social media claiming to have seen Efron popping up at cafes and the like.

"My sister just told me that Zac Efron is [in] Byron Bay," one fan tweeted last week.

Influencer Tarsha Whitmore also wrote: "Don't mean to alarm anyone but Zac Efron was literally eating at the same cafe as me when this was taken."

Sadly, no one has managed to snap a picture of the 32-year-old casually strolling around the town and it's just all sightings at the moment.

Considering his last real-time photo on Instagram was uploaded in February, it's highly possible that Efron ducked into Australia before the coronavirus pandemic hit and has been living it up ever since.

He wouldn't be the first celebrity to be stuck in an idyllic location during lockdown. Matt Damon has been living in Ireland for the past few months and says it's been a beautiful experience.

When lockdown began, he'd been filming for Ridley Scott's new movie The Last Duel, a historical drama-thriller based on Eric Jager's book, The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France.

In an interview with Spin 103.8's Fully Charged radio show, Damon said of the place he has been calling home: "Oh, it's incredible. This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

"Obviously what's going on in the world is horrible, but for my family it timed out right. It feels a little like a fairy tale here, it's gorgeous."

So, it's not entirely out of the question that Efron could be hanging in Bryon Bay. We won't know until we see proof.
