Britney Spears campaigner and superfan Cara Crocker has started hormone replacement therapy after coming out as trans earlier this year, saying she will 'not be answering to Chris' any longer.

Cara, who is known as the 'Leave Britney Alone' video creator, revealed on Instagram that she was starting the process this week, writing: "Tomorrow is my appointment for hormone replacement therapy.

"It's been 33 years coming and I'm happy to be in a place where I can embrace who I am. I have put my identity and personal happiness aside for so long, out of fear of rejection or me not wanting to embarrass my family.

"Then I realized anyone who actually loves me for me won't be embarrassed and would've shown actual genuine interest in how long I have felt this way, in the first place.

"I am transitioning and I have no more apologies to make for who I am.

"This will be a lonely process in terms of emotional support from others, but I will be happy knowing I am doing this for myself and what I've needed for my gender dysphoria."

She added: "As my transition progresses - I will not be answering to Chris. It's Cara."

Cara also suggested she also planned to ditch her supposed surname, saying: "Crocker was never and isn't [actually] my last name to begin with, just a stage name I had to pick when I was being sent threats online as a teenager.

"I'm not living out of fear or anyone else's terms any longer."

According to TooFab, her legal surname is Cunningham, and she now goes by Cara Cunningham on Instagram.

In another video posted on Tuesday evening, Cara could be seen smiling at the camera to Taylor Swift song 'The Man'.

In the caption, she wrote: "I should be sleeping but I'm so excited for my HRT appointment in the morning."

Cara, 33, decided to sell the original 'Leave Britney Alone' video as a non-fungible token (NFT) earlier this year, saying she planned to use the money to fund her transition.

"My hope with this NFT bid ending tonight is to be able to help take care of my family and if I have enough funds, begin my transition," she explained on Twitter.

According to Pink News, after bidding ended on 12 April, the video fetched 18.6942 ETH, equating to more than $40,000 (£29,000) in real currency.
