Most of us are used to train rides involving lukewarm tinnies and a packet of crisps - maybe a bag of Percy Pigs if you were smart enough to leave time to dive into the station's M&S before boarding.

Lewis Capaldi, however, aimed a lot higher with his mid-journey snacking, and managed to get a freshly cooked Domino's pizza delivered to him while he was on his way to London from Edinburgh.

After finding out his train's buffet cart was out of action, Capaldi tweeted the pizza chain at 11.35am this morning, begging: "HELLO @Dominos_UK I HAVE AN URGENT REQUEST CAN YOU PLEASE DM ME, ONCE AGAIN IT IS A MATTER IF THE UPMOST IMPORTANCE THANK YOU. Your friend, Lewis Capaldi."

With 23,000 likes and more than 1,000 retweets, it wasn't long before word reached the right people, and soon a Domino's in Darlington stepped up to ensure the singer didn't go hungry.

The Northgate Road branch arrived at the station to meet Capaldi with two large Pepperoni Passion pizzas plus a big tub of Domino's signature Garlic & Herb dip.

There was even a handwritten note for him, which read: "We're glad that we are someone you loved. We live to make your heart beat better. Eat me while you wait."

Capaldi later posted a photo of his envious train feast on social media, writing: "@dominos_uk you beautiful b******s."

Rachel Townsend, Stores and Community Manager at Domino's, said: "Lewis Capaldi knows nothing delivers like Domino's, and our Darlington store hot footed over to the station to deliver Lewis' favourite Pepperoni Passion pizza in the nick of time before his train moved on.

"We're so glad we could help him in his time of need."

While many people were no doubt happy to see Capaldi didn't starve on his way home, for others it highlighted that this was merely how the other half live.

"I wish I had this much power," one lamented.

Guess you'd better go stock up on some Percy Pigs, eh?
