Mel Gibson, 60, has been forced to defend his relationship age gap in a new interview.

His missus, 26-year-old Rosalind Ross, is currently pregnant with his ninth child. NINTH. Steady on, Mel!

In an interview with The Mirror, he was asked about their ages and the fact there's 34 years between them. He said: "Regarding age and relationships, it's just a number.

"We dig each other. She is an adult and we dig each other. It might cause a problem and one has a trepidation about these things, but it's working out great. She is a really special person. I dig her. So there you go. That's it. What more can one ask?"

Yeah, there's a bit of an age gap but seriously, bore off. Why other people find the need to involve themselves in other people's relationships is beyond me. They're not doing anything illegal or weird, so what's wrong with it?

People love to stick their noses in.

In the interview, he also addressed issues with his career. He was 'exiled' from Hollywood for 10 years following a few incidents including a very publicised anti-Semitic verbal assault of a police officer who pulled him over for drink-driving back in 2006.

He was also recorded using racist and misogynistic language and shouting death threats against his former partner and the mother of one of his children, Oksana Grigorieva.

While he was away, he spent the time going to therapy, attending counselling and 'working on himself'.

Now, after a hiatus, his new movie, Hacksaw Ridge, a war epic, will come out on January 27, 2017, and it looks incredible. Watch the trailer here.

Gibson could well be directing a masterpiece.
