Michael Scott Named Steve Carell's Best Ever Character

As Steve Carell turns 58 today, we thought we'd take a look back through some of his most iconic roles, asking LADbible readers which has been their all-time favourite in a Twitter poll.

While he's got many strong credits on his CV, eventually you decided that his ultimate character is none other than Michael Scott, the hilarious regional branch manager for paper distribution company Dunder Mifflin Inc. from The Office.

In the first heat Brick Tamland from Anchorman managed to beat Barry from Dinner For Schmucks and Despicable Me protagonist Gru, winning with 63.2 percent of the vote.

Round two put Michael Scott up against Andy from The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Evan from both Bruce Almighty and its spin-off film Evan Almighty, with coming out on top with 64.5 percent.

For the grand finale, we got rid of the lowest-scoring characters and put the four highest-ranked into a third poll to battle it out once and for all.

Eventually, Scott was crowned champion with 52 percent of 8,705 votes, while Brick Tamland came in a very respectable second place with 25.2 percent, Andy got 13.7 percent and Gru 9.1 percent.

Before the poll wrapped up, one Carell fan commented: "If Michael Scott doesn't take the crown, this will be the biggest travesty to ever grace Twitter."

Another added: "Michael Scott the [goat emoji]."

Someone else also gave a shout-out for Space Force's General Mark R. Naird, Carell's most recent role.

In the new Netflix comedy series, which dropped earlier this year in May, Carell plays a decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force.

But he's thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force.

"Skeptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colourful team of scientists and 'Spacemen' are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance," the plot summary explains.
