Fans were left gutted after Liam Gallagher walked off stage only 20 minutes into his set at the Lollapalooza festival yesterday.

The former Oasis co-frontman left the stage without even saying an apologetic word to the expectant crowd.

After just three songs, Gallagher walked midway through 'Greedy Soul' with the band continuing to play - almost unsure themselves as to what had gone on. Watch the footage below:

Posting on Twitter, almost immediately afterwards, he explained that his hour-long set was cut short because his voice was 'fucked'.

The Mancunian had performed Oasis classics 'Rock 'n' Roll Star' and 'Morning Glory' before singing his new solo single, 'Wall Of Glass'.

On Twitter he wrote: "Sorry to the people who turned up for the gig in Chicago lollapalooza had a difficult gig last night which fucked my voice. I'm gutted LG x."

Apparently, some of the expectant crowd were heard shouting 'Fuck you Liam' as the singer failed to return to the stage.

One Twitter user suggested an alternative reason for Liam walking off the stage - her friend had a banner that said 'I love you, Noel' on it.

Some of the fans at the festival weren't too impressed, while others sympathised with the Mancunian.

It's not as if he can blame the gravelly undertones on smoking, seeing as he was recently refused cigarettes.

A shopkeeper asked Liam for proof of age before selling the fags on, something that frustrated the artist.

He, once more, took to Twitter to vent his anger, saying: "I've just been told I can't buy cigs unless I got ID im 4FUCKIN4 has the world gone mad."

That's all despite Liam famously singing a track called 'Cigarettes and Alcohol'.

Now now, Liam, stop crying your heart out.
